 FOR SALE : C1962 KOFOD LARSEN FOR G PLAN LOW TEAK SIDEBOARD C1962 Kofod Larsen for G Plan low teak Sideboard.
Designed and produced in the early 60's with the intention of staving off the Scandinavian competition. G Plan, a good mainstream English company, for a spell reached the dizzy heights of quality and fine design by introducing a series of Kofod Larsen designed pieces. This sideboard, an expensive item in its day, was one of the first of that series.
At a shorter more convenient length, the sideboard shows a clean line and compact form. A quality, well thought out piece which uses a number of forms of contrast to full effect. Hard lined body set on a slightly organic base. Darker square solid rosewood handles, combine with dark teak undercarriage and outline. All set against a mid tone teak body and front. As a final touch, a simple, more reflective cut of teak has been used on the drawer fronts whilst a subtle, well figured grain of teak was applied to doors and body. G Plan at its best.
In sympathetically re-polished condition, the sideboard is clean sharp and ready to go.

The bench measures 51" Long x 33" Tall and the seat height is 16"
This is the Italian pattern bench, it was available in different lengths and with wooden or metal slats
Seats of this sort with iron slats were primarily made for use in the Colonies as wooden slats were liable to damage by termites.
This design is registered in the 1875 Coalbrookdale catalogue section 3, page 249, no. 17.
The bench is marked with two lozenge marks and two registration numbers - The registered number is 59652
This bench was purchased from a garden clearance in Shropshire, near the home of Coalbrookdale
The bench has been fully refurbished to a high standard
The bench has had a couple of genuine old minor repairs - but these have been done well and we have not had to repair them ourselves

 FOR SALE : EARLY ROBERT MOUSEMAN THOMPSON OAK BENCH. Oak Bench/ Pew by Robert "Mouseman" Thompson of Kilburn, North Yorkshire.
Probably a one-off item with masonic connection. The solid plank back carved with square and compass in a circle above a plain seat with lightly inscribed dedication to frieze on turned and carved legs joined by stretchers. The carved mouse can be found to the right front leg.
A lovely example of early Mouseman furniture.
Measurements: Length 1520mm, Depth 430mm, Height 760mm.
