FOR SALE : COPPER EDWARDIAN FINGER PLATES
Could be described as new old stock as these finger plates have never been used, they were recently reclaimed from a basement of a property, Circa 1910. They are pressed brass with some kind of antiqued copper wash finish. We have a set off the doors from the same property but all the copper has gone so they are brass. Its really unusual to find these with the original finish.

Sold singly.

Condition:

Overall good original condition, some of the wash is starting to break down a little (see last pic), easily cleaned off but it will go through to the brass underneath.

Finish: Antique copper
Height: 280mm (11in)
Width: 72mm (2.75in)
Supplied with: New brass slotted screws

FOR SALE : VERY LARGE 1920S LETTERBOX
An unusually large solid brass letterbox from the 1920s or 1930s, weighing in at nearly 2kg (4.4lbs) Its a slightly rosier brass than in the picture. This has come from the front of some kind of commercial premises and was probably used to post parcels or stacks of mail. We've had a similar one before that was in an office for posting keys through. It has a bit of a makers name on the back 'Walker & Wood Ltd'. Its been machine polished but will quickly tarnish, good quality springs.

Any questions, please ask.

Overall really good condition, some marks and scratches.

FOR SALE : SPACE AGE TAPS
An unusual pair of vintage angled taps with a space age look to them. The main body is brass but the tops are aluminum, they were probably off a bath as they the larger 3/4 BSP fitting, I'd say they date from the 1960s. Both taps have been refurbished including replacement washers, reseated, repacked. Tested at mains pressure and fully compatible with modern plumbing. They've also been acid dipped to remove all the limescale. The aluminium will dull down and tarnish along with the brass but easily kept polished with a brasso type product.

Sold as a pair.

FOR SALE : FRENCH FRONT DOOR BELL, CIRCA 1830
An original sprung front door bell embossed with its makers name 'Dubois Robert Aupuy'. I believe the Company were casting bells until around 1830. These are sometimes referred to as shop bells but I've only seen them as door bells. They work in a similar way to the English ones, you need a sprung bell pull to operate it and the bell is set under a bit of tension when its connected to the pull. The spring is as 'springy' as the day it was made. The bell has a lovely quality loud ring.

Condition:

Fantastic working condition, we've just given it a clean and refinished the iron with a traditional product.

FOR SALE : LION HEAD DOOR PULL
A lovely quality solid brass lion head front door pull, we're pretty sure its not an antique but judging on the quality of the casting, the colour of the brass and the the wear its probably from the 1930/40s/50s. We've removed all the overpainting given it a polish but managed to leave quite of bit of original patina on the front. The bolt is a replacement.

Good condition, a few marks and scratches on the brass.

FOR SALE : LARGE EDWARDIAN DOOR BELL PUSH
A large working solid brass electric bell push dating from the turn of the Century. Its quite common to see a smaller push mounted onto a larger brass plate as it covered the hole left by the old style manual bell pull. Its got 2 connecting terminals on the back and we've tested it on a modern 12v bell circuit and it works everytime. All the brass has been machine polished, easily polished to shiny when it starts to tarnish.

FOR SALE : VICTORIAN STEEL RIM LATCH & KNOBS
A small lightly refurbished steel cased antique rim latch with its original pair of wooden door handles. The little latch has its round brass plate on the front 'Improved Steel Case' and was probably from a bedroom or bathroom. The handles were probably once ebonised but most of this has worn away. We've stipped many layers of paint from the latch and its been finished with a product to stop the steel from rusting. The mechanism has been cleaned and oiled, the handles refinished and waxed. Absolutely ideal for replacing missing latches, dual handed so work on either side of the door.

FOR SALE : SET OF GIBBONS PULL AND PUSH HANDLES
A really nice set of quite large matching antique pull door handles by Gibbons of Wolverhampton, weighing in at over 4kg for the set. One pair are marked PUSH and the other pair PULL, each of the solid brass backplates are stamped Gibbons along with their Registered Design number. The number dates the design to the 1890's and based on the colour of the brass and the stamp these are from around that period. These were probably off either side of a pair of swing doors, the handles are removable so they can be used as a pair with one PUSH and one PULL (they were probably round this way originally based on where the stamps are). Cleaned and machine polished.

Sold as a set (2 pairs, 4 handles).

FOR SALE : 3 ANTIQUE SERVANTS BELLS ON BOARD
A lightly restored working set of 3 Matching graduated servants bells, dating from the late Victorian period. These were part of a larger set recently recovered from a basement, unfortunately the other bells and the rest of the board had rotted away. I'm not sure the board is the original one as its teak but its a wide 12inch board and certainly has some age. The board has been stripped and lightly refinished, all the iron work has had the loose material removed and finished with a traditional product and the bells just cleaned and very lightly polished. All the bells have a lovely rich tone (each one is different) and to work properly need to be pulled from the right hand side.

Condition:

Good original working condition, we had to make a few repairs here and there.

FOR SALE : LARGE EARLY 1900'S SERVANTS CALL BOX
A lovely example of a large glass fronted servants call board dating from around 1910 - 1920 consisting of 24 windows. We believe this style of box are sometimes known as service indicators as the Red flag drops into the window then needs to be manually reset using the exposed knobs (so that room is waiting for service). Its probably from a Hotel or serviced flats, something like that. The frame is teak and the board and box are some sort of generic hardwood. Its all been stripped of the old varnish and refinished.

FOR SALE : VICTORIAN BRASS FRONT DOOR BELL PULL
A sunken Victorian front door bell pull with a copper hand & bar pull on its original square pine block. This one probably dates from around 1880. The pull as a new return spring and a replacement grub screw, it's quite a stiff new spring but it can be slightly adjusted by moving it up the grub screw. We've had to slight reduce the size of the block as it was a bit rotten and its been finished with several coats of exterior lacquer.

Condition:

Good working condition, quite a marks and scratches, I think the handle originally had a lead lining at the base.

FOR SALE : GEORGIAN COUNTRY HOUSE DOOR BELL
A huge door bell from a Georgian country house dating from around 1810 over 20inches tall and weighing over 3.5kg, we've never had one this large before, only ever seen one in-situ. Its in fully working condition with all the tension still in the spring and its original iron pulley that would have gone in the inside of the door frame. Originally it had a big spike that would have been embedded in the wall, unfortunately it was probably snapped when it was removed so we've made a new heavy duty fixing plate and sleeve. The wrought iron has a small ring for the bell cord to tie to, so ideally pulled from the left (as the picture shows) but you could just tie the cord around. It sits under quite allot of tension but it'll need a pull with a strong return spring or an expansion spring somewhere along the cable (we have some expansion springs if you think you might need one)

Condition:

Really good working condition.

FOR SALE : LARGE EDWARDIAN SERVANTS CALL BOARD
A very large Edwardian call box and intercom system recently removed from a country house in Kent. The box is Circa 1915 and was a replacement for the older manual bell system. The frame is a lovely coloured mahogany, the back board and intercom front are pine. Also included is its Bakelite bell but this might be a slightly later addition. We've tested the board and all the flags seem to work but some of the internal wiring seems to be missing, easy enough to replace. We have a short Youtube clip showing flag #1 wired to the bell via a modern bell push (search 'servants call box and bell'), powered by 8 x 1.5v AA batteries. We've not tested the intercom system. Lots of overpainting has been removed and all the woodwork has been lightly refinished.

Any questions please ask.

Customers outside of the UK, this item is excluded from our free shipping offer but please contact us for a shipping quote.

Condition:

Overall good condition, one of the flags was missing so has been replaced, it's a pretty close match and we've made a few repairs here and there. The electric bell is mounted on a new piece of wood, coloured to match, it'll soon dull down.

A fantastic antique Gibbons mortice lock with its original large ebonised door knobs and escutcheons. The solid brass face of the lock is stamped Gibbons and other various lettering. This set was removed from a property dating from around 1915. All the brass has been machine polished the door handles refinished. I think the escutcheons are solid ebony rather than ebonised.

Sold as a set.

Condition:

Overall good original condition, There are signs of the wear on ebonised finish, it would have originally been applied in layers so some layers are showing through.
