Full in the face, the size of a wall, larger than life. A gutsy, full on example which through its distressing, gives a blow by blow account of each and every day of its long and varied working life. Something of a one off and one of life's survivors.
Presenting itself in much the same way as an early antique, the more you inspect the more you discover. For the more geeky amongst us, quite a journey of discovery. Constructed of solid stained pine throughout, interpreting mahogany, the bank of drawers has something of an early, well crafted, bespoke feel. Having been purpose built originally for shop storage, all drawers are large heavy & ample.
Salvaged some years ago, over the decades the bank has been repaired revived and used for shop, builders and home. Still maintaining its rugged good looks, the bank has a genuine hands on flavour and is fine, functioning, and ready for use.
Big, bold, full of character, a piece for any antique, industrial or rustic style interior. It's a bit of a beast.

With a mountain of Chesterfields out there, every once and a while you stumble across one which, through time itself, develops that little something extra. Boasting the all important features of a button down seat and well loved and lived in look. The finish of the leather, now a wonderfully graduated, faded, butter to butter-scotch colour, was created over decades of use. Time has produced that " little something " extra. Snappy in an antique sort of a way, the sofa really is, rather pleasant and easy to live with.
From the memory of the previous owner, the sofa dates from in and around the late 50's early 60's and was a pretty good re-production of its time. Being presented and sold in 'as found condition' the sofa is sound, sturdy and true. Closer inspection indicating signs of maintenance and re-placed underlining along with a short split in a crease. Leather cream used over the years, it's clean, and generally ready for use, maybe a little dusty in corners.

Standing quietly in the shadows of a church, serving it's Bristol parishioners for over one hundred years, the table was probably overlooked for most of that time. Now, stepping into the light to re-present itself to the world and decorative market, the table proves to be quite an intense, mood-setting individual. Dense, weighty and compact in size. The ornate gothic forms almost blend in against the richly matured, graduating colour and striking grain of the pitch pine. Dress all with a consistent, timeless level of distressing, and the need to stand, study and absorb the piece, becomes irresistible.
Size does offer some versatility in use as a showy little breakfast, side or hall table, however the joy of this piece is it's intensity. Being sold in 'as found' condition. Depending on your needs, the table is generally sound and ready for use. Quite the genuine article, it's a good honest antique piece. Initially appearing sound original and untouched, closer inspection indicates accomplished running repairs and maintenance at some point long ago in its life. All pretty much as you'd expect from a piece of this age.

Discovered by an English couple in their second investment home in France, due to comfort and feel good factor, the chair was brought back to England to be used and enjoyed for number of years.
Maybe a touch kitsch and just for a second, may set your teeth on edge, however for decades there's been a curious fascination for all things French within English interiors.
Loud, proud and totally in tune with the current mid century trend towards the continental 50's atomic arm chair. This style of chair is currently all the rage and this example couldn't be more space age, more of its time or more of a showpiece.

Dating somewhere between the 30's and 50's, fair to say the old, oak and glass fronted haberdashery cabinets are currently all the rage. A multitude of drawers presented in a tall slender format sees the piece tip-toeing neatly from decorator to industrial, business or home.
Found still being used in a small fabric factory, the cabinet is being sold in as found condition, fine and perfectly functional whilst displaying something of an honest industrial flavour. Still a little dusty internally, with odd signs of running repairs and maintenance.
With a flim-flam, or wash & wax, the cabinet could be used as is, depending on your requirements. Keenly priced.

Popular in all walks of life from home to business to restaurant, the industrial theme has made it's stake as one of the most creative. Combine with this, everyone's favourite, drawers, and lots of them, then you have the perfect functional and decorative item.
Sheet steel finished in khaki green, the colour particularly ages the piece well. Having been given a simple flim-flam clean, and a light wax to seal and soften the distressing, fair to say that's all that was needed to maintain a good original flavour. Now with the look of a piece which has just stepped off the shop floor, however is ready to step into the front room, the tote bin is essentially ready to go, depending on your requirements. In every sense of the term, a long chair. A little less obvious than the standard Chaise longues, these models prove particularly popular due initially to their ever so slightly quirky proportions, more so to the fact they're just that bit harder to come across. The perfect decorators piece, there is no overlooking the fact they're also built for comfort. This example, a fine old girl, came down the family line and had been around for as long as anyone could remember. Lived a little, loved a little, immediately obvious some tinkerings and adjustments have been made over the years, but no getting away from the warmth and appeal of the piece. I'll run through the details.
( Loss of upholstery, looks like oroginal underlining. Replacement castors, re-polishing of legs and general maintenance of springs / webbing over the years ).

As Arts & Crafts pieces go, this is one of the more appealing. Instantly drawing the eye, the box does typify the movement in many ways, yet rather than use simplicity, the squat full bodied form is anything but. Using the tension of restraint, the coal box contains a number of high quality and decorative features which are all finely poised to create anticipation. Becomes more a voyage of discover as you independently spot each. The wonderful, truly original condition enhances all.
Note: No makers mark, but due to the quality, and piece being discovered in North Cheshire, our attention was brought to the work of James Smithies of Wilmslow. An avenue worth researching further.

Ever and always popular, the tulip / wine glass bases were designed in the early 60's and have been constantly recreated and represented ever since. Dating from the late 60's, this neatly sized example, tip-toes on the lighter side of life. Teak top, in sympathetically re-polished condition. Quality, figured and reflective grain. Aluminium bases with some light knocking from over the years. Overall, nice sharp and ready to use.

Even seen these days lurking in the background of decorative sales at top London Auctions, and fetching a premium, it's fair to say vintage drapery furniture has arrived. With the obvious commercial edge so popular on today's market, haberdashery , drapers furniture lends itself to a whole variety of interiors. Obviously practical with it's generous drawers, size and impact are really what this piece is about. The gentle glow of pleasantly distressed, mature, golden oak are a finale to one big, old decorators dream.
As the story goes, this chest was salvaged from a commercial drapers in the Midlands, back in the late 60's. Since, it has lead a relatively gently life as a storage piece within a home office. All the original distressing has mellowed and the chest presents itself in good original condition, with a general and expected level of gentle, commercial distressing.

An attractively large, proud, good quality set, still with a formal edge. Soft blue / grey leather well worn, sustained distressing to the timbers. Over the years a certain all-knowing level of mellow charm has descended which now sees them, as they stand, bordering on the more decorative market. The chairs have a " look" which is all very pleasing and easy to the eye.
Found in the boardroom of an old, long since closed factory, the chairs date to the late 50's. With the added attraction of the matching, larger than life, MD's chair. Almost throne like, it's slightly tongue in cheek appeal allows it to stand on it's own, as an eye catcher. Has a value in its own right.
For a dealer the large number does offer the option to split into smaller sets.
In original as found condition the chairs show odd signs of running repair. All joints feel sound.They are perfectly usable as the stand. With a sustained level of distressing evident, along with the expected age related aches and grumbles of time. The " look " could be maintained with some nip tuck and repair. Alternatively, varying levels of restoration could be carried out for a more clinical look.

Found deep in the countryside, the stools, originally bought as a set of five for the private bar within a house resembling a stately home were arranged as, one for the acting bar man, four for guests. A tall, bold and elegantly proportioned stool with a cool, bright steely edge. Drawing the eye with use of decorative geometry to the base, there's no escaping the earlier 20's 30's modernist tendencies of the stool, however in today's market, it's real forte is compatibility with the modern trend towards the hard industrial interiors.
Enjoyed and used only on occasion and that's exactly what the condition suggests.
( With a distinct look and feel of PEL. Note PEL for a period used easily perishable transfer labels. Direct reference also found in a specialist Nouveau, Deco, 1995 Millers price guide ).

A big bold statement making piece which displays a firm, formal restraint. Combining golden oak with black painted steel is a hard edged contrast. With the advent of time and daily industrious use, something of a mellow, gritty charm has descended. The golden oak now deep and rich in colour, bearing the gentle consistent scars of time, whilst the sheet steel drawers, less clinical more coarse. Size, contrast, colour and texture.
(Finished & paneled on back and sides. In good vintage, industrial condition. One or two aches and grumbles of age. Started life as clerical index, improvised adjustment of drawers to use in later life for storage of bits and bobs).

Whilst the modern interior trend is towards the industrial theme, this is proving a popular style of chair. Produced in numbers between the 30's - 50's by all the large industrial furniture companies of the time, P.E.L., Cox and Remploy, there is no makers mark to confirm which. You'll find slight variation between the companies in the way of nips and tucks. The general design is of one which covers all practicalities, sturdy, light-weight and space saving in their ability to stack.
A handy set of 24 which can be used in a business, or for a dealer, split into more traditional, evenly numbered smaller sets. With a good vintage industrial look, the chairs have no major issues. We've simply dusted and buffed and they are pretty much ready for use.

Presenting itself in good original condition, this is one big, bold lump of Deco modernist tubular chrome. Carrying the label " Du-al Product" it dates in and around the late 30's to late 40's.
Since the 20's, tubular chrome has been found crossing the divide between home and industrial design. Probably having started life as part of a commercial installation, the sofa now caters for so much more than the deco enthusiast. Now with the modern home trend for industrial themes, the sofa brings the industrial movement to the decorators market crossing the divide between antique and modern.

Well constructed of beech & elm, the chairs tell the story of over 100 years of the life and times of an honest, working, knock about piece of furniture. In original condition, having been given only a light wax, there is a heavy level of mellowed distressing throughout with a varying dark to light colour. Patination and charm.
