Set of 15, 1950's - 60's modular lounge chairs.

Individually due to size and form, there's something of a cutsie look, as a gang and in modular form, the chairs epitomize the fun, creative side of mid century design. Functional and versatile, use either dotted around individually or in modular rows, the chairs look good from any angle or side.

Bright breezy mid century design presenting itself with something of an honest lived in look, the question is which way to run with them from here. Full restoration with snappy new outfits in a variety of choice 50's - 60's colours, or as is, using the form as a point of sass in a more stayed industrious setting..An exciting bunch with creative visual options.


In original as found condition, structurally the chairs are sound. The vinyl upholstery has survived ok, with various nicks and short splits. Comfortable to sit in, all webbing and stuffing feels fine

FOR SALE : ATTRIBUTED TO PEL. SET OF 5 TUBULAR STEEL CHROME BAR STOOLS C1950 DECO
Attributed to PEL. set of 5 Tubular steel chrome Bar stools C1950 Deco

Found deep in the countryside, the stools, originally bought as a set of five for the private bar within a house resembling a stately home were arranged as, one for the acting bar man, four for guests. A tall, bold and elegantly proportioned stool with a cool, bright steely edge. Drawing the eye with use of decorative geometry to the base, there's no escaping the earlier 20's 30's modernist tendencies of the stool, however in today's market, it's real forte is compatibility with the modern trend towards the hard industrial interiors.

Enjoyed and used only on occasion and that's exactly what the condition suggests.

( With a distinct look and feel of PEL. Note PEL for a period used easily perishable transfer labels. Direct reference also found in a specialist Nouveau, Deco, 1995 Millers price guide ).

1920's oak & sheet steel, bank of index drawers. 112 drawers in all.


A big bold statement making piece which displays a firm, formal restraint. Combining golden oak with black painted steel is a hard edged contrast. With the advent of time and daily industrious use, something of a mellow, gritty charm has descended. The golden oak now deep and rich in colour, bearing the gentle consistent scars of time, whilst the sheet steel drawers, less clinical more coarse. Size, contrast, colour and texture.


(Finished & paneled on back and sides. In good vintage, industrial condition. One or two aches and grumbles of age. Started life as clerical index, improvised adjustment of drawers to use in later life for storage of bits and bobs).

Whilst the modern interior trend is towards the industrial theme, this is proving a popular style of chair. Produced in numbers between the 30's - 50's by all the large industrial furniture companies of the time, P.E.L., Cox and Remploy, there is no makers mark to confirm which. You'll find slight variation between the companies in the way of nips and tucks. The general design is of one which covers all practicalities, sturdy, light-weight and space saving in their ability to stack.


A handy set of 24 which can be used in a business, or for a dealer, split into more traditional, evenly numbered smaller sets. With a good vintage industrial look, the chairs have no major issues. We've simply dusted and buffed and they are pretty much ready for use.

Art Deco Modernist PEL styl sofa. Tubular chrome & Black rexine


Presenting itself in good original condition, this is one big, bold lump of Deco modernist tubular chrome. Carrying the label " Du-al Product" it dates in and around the late 30's to late 40's.

Since the 20's, tubular chrome has been found crossing the divide between home and industrial design. Probably having started life as part of a commercial installation, the sofa now caters for so much more than the deco enthusiast. Now with the modern home trend for industrial themes, the sofa brings the industrial movement to the decorators market crossing the divide between antique and modern.

Typically Bramin and the best of Danish 60's design. A tight, well executed piece with a bold full-bodied presence. Easy to the eye, the sideboard boasts a number of quality touches along with distinctive Bramin features in the rounded and pinched corners.

A large, long, low affair which is in good original condition. The general presentation is good and sharp with one or two areas of age related distressing to confirm its vintage status.

With the cutting edge trend towards the industrial movement, this is one big lump of a statement. Constructed in the main of 4mm thick steel with thick heavy duty glass and fittings, this cabinet goes nowhere quickly. Salvaged from an NHS hospital in the Bath area some years ago, the cabinet was obviously built for secure use. Now with a multitude of alternative creative uses from display to bathroom to kitchen, the bold clinical combination of black, white, glass & chrome, presented in a broad Art Deco form, insure this piece will not be overlooked. It's a modern, interior design, heavy weight.

Due to quantity, their folding practical nature and gentle lean of the back for comfort, the suggestion of origin would be large gatherings or café. Alternatively, there may be a campaign military angle.

Well constructed of beech & elm, the chairs tell the story of over 100 years of the life and times of an honest, working, knock about piece of furniture. In original condition, having been given only a light wax, there is a heavy level of mellowed distressing throughout with a varying dark to light colour. Patination and charm.

1960's Retro Daybed settee chaise

Bright, breezy, neatly sized 60's daybed which is out and out retro. As decorative as it is functional. It's orange.

Presenting itself in excellent vivid condition throughout. The quality wool mix fabric has been protected over the years by use of specially made covers and then, used only occasionally. Contradicts the nature of the piece maybe ? Today the fabric is almost as fresh as the day it left the showroom.

( Not only having the look, the daybed offers a versatile practicality with it's drop arms & removable back. If need be, good for use as an emergency bed, perfect for general lazing )

C1900, Solid Mahogany, Arts & Crafts, glazed lead-light Bookcase.

No makers label but with a distinct smack of Liberty or Morris & Co. This is a good quality example which uses restrained detail and ornament to full effect. Undoubtedly Arts & Crafts, the neat, concise size offers both practical and decorative qualities.

Well constructed, with neatly paneled backboard. The bookcase is in original condition throughout. Light general distressing about the piece with some fading in areas.
