Even seen these days lurking in the background of decorative sales at top London Auctions, and fetching a premium, it's fair to say vintage drapery furniture has arrived. With the obvious commercial edge so popular on today's market, haberdashery , drapers furniture lends itself to a whole variety of interiors. Obviously practical with it's generous drawers, size and impact are really what this piece is about. The gentle glow of pleasantly distressed, mature, golden oak are a finale to one big, old decorators dream.
As the story goes, this chest was salvaged from a commercial drapers in the Midlands, back in the late 60's. Since, it has lead a relatively gently life as a storage piece within a home office. All the original distressing has mellowed and the chest presents itself in good original condition, with a general and expected level of gentle, commercial distressing.
