An attractively large, proud, good quality set, still with a formal edge. Soft blue / grey leather well worn, sustained distressing to the timbers. Over the years a certain all-knowing level of mellow charm has descended which now sees them, as they stand, bordering on the more decorative market. The chairs have a " look" which is all very pleasing and easy to the eye.
Found in the boardroom of an old, long since closed factory, the chairs date to the late 50's. With the added attraction of the matching, larger than life, MD's chair. Almost throne like, it's slightly tongue in cheek appeal allows it to stand on it's own, as an eye catcher. Has a value in its own right.
For a dealer the large number does offer the option to split into smaller sets.
In original as found condition the chairs show odd signs of running repair. All joints feel sound.They are perfectly usable as the stand. With a sustained level of distressing evident, along with the expected age related aches and grumbles of time. The " look " could be maintained with some nip tuck and repair. Alternatively, varying levels of restoration could be carried out for a more clinical look.
