 RECRAFT : HAND CARVED OAK CHIMNEY PIECE, INGLENOOK FIREPLACE Hand carved oak chimney piece.
Many hours of work have gone into creating this work of craftsmanship.
This oak chimney frieze would look fantastic in an Inglenook fireplace.
This piece incorporates 3 tracery quatra foils, one large in the centre and two smaller ones each side with flower buds in them.
Each side bears a mask, one female and one heraldic beast.
My tracery work has been set out and carved using traditional methods dating back to the 12th century, using a compass and trammells.
The hand carving is so beautiful, you could sit and admire it for hours on end.
Measurements:
53" long, tapers to 51" at the bottom. 10" high, 4.5" wide. It has been carved out of a solid block of Oak.

My work is traditionally hand carved and finished using traditional methods passed down over hundreds of years by artisans. A hand carved piece will always distinguish against a modern machined piece of work, although modern machines are many times faster, the finish is too clinical with no life.
Hand carved work with tool marks and slight errors in the carving make each piece unique and more pleasing to the eye.
No machinery is used in my work.

This piece incorporates a central female mask with a double tudor rose on each side, all carved in Elizabethan style.
The hand carving is so beautiful, you could sit and admire it for hours on end.
Measurements:
45" long, 10" high, 10" wide. It has been carved out of a 10" solid block of welsh oak.
