Church Door

Church Door
This door/table draws favourable comment from everybody who sees it, but we're having a shift around at home to accommodate elderly parents so we need the space. It is beautiful to look at, has expertly forged hinge embellishments and is a practical 12 seater table. The hinges are removable allowing for table cloths to be spread but I have a set of the original bolts for the hinges too.

The base of the door/table (where it would normally meet the ground) is still in its original worn state not having been sawn flush, but this would be an easy operation if you wanted a clean edge. It was retained in this state as we had plans to edge the table in steel and fit a glass top which I never got around to.

I believe the door is oak and the frame and bearers are pitch pine. The bearers are really clean and tidy and solidly built. The door was lightly sand blasted and sealed about fourteen years ago and so retains a deep weatherbeaten look.

The base to the table is hand made from steel with ornamental embellishments in keeping with the piece and will separate for transport. There are two parts, a square four legged section and a triangular three legged section which bolt together through spacing tubes.

The dimensions of the door are:
Height: 10' 2.5" or 311cm
Width: 6'1" or 183cm
The Arch of the door starts 52" from the top (132cm)

The table height stands at 32" 81cm.
