 RECRAFT : GOTHIC WROUGHT IRON BRIDGE BY DAVID LE VERSHA. A fantastic iron bridge, designed and made from reclaimed iron by David le Versha as a one-off. It is in the Regency Gothic style, with a row of quatrefoils to each side, and with trefoil spandrels to the arches. The handrail is braced at both ends, and is formed with a simple, small half round profile. Open cross-braced panels complete the sides in a restrained and elegant manner which doesn't overcrowd the bridge with too much detail. The deck is formed from two huge previously unused oak boards about two inches thick, bolted through to clamps under the main frame. Two steps to each end, with the lower being semi-circular present an attractive and practical approach, and a solid landing for the structure. A red brick plinth to each end, pointed in lime and echoing the shape of the steps to a slightly larger profile would make this little bridge into a real long term treasure. The whole structure is heavily painted with at least five coats, and already has the appearance of some age. Around twelve feet long, the bridge will span about eight feet clear.
