FOR SALE : LARGE FRENCH 'HALL CLOCK'

This item is a very large and unusual as well as beautiful French hall clock. It is quite difficult to date, but we estimate it dates around the 1840-50s. The case is made of oak and is in good condition. There is a very interesting panel in the large door, this is beautifully carved and we believe that the dateline on this door is much earlier than the rest of the case. It has on it what looks like the crest relating to the 'chateau neuf de pap'. When we purchased the item we were told that the door may be a linked to the old papal residence in the south of France (Avignion?).
Dimensions are roughly (but can supply detailed dimensions if needed): over 7ft tall by 15 inches deep by 3ft wide.

The clock mechanism is currently not working and the dial needs restoration, but once restored this will be a stunning item. The space behind the door can be used as a cupboard.

This is a very unusual piece and everyone who has visited us is fascinated by it.
