Once fitted, this floor requires a good sanding and then the finish applying. The finish shown in the images is a spirit based lacquer which is much harder wearing than the polyurethane water based which is widely used.
Surface Condition: Reclaimed in-sanded condition, with the original layer of varnish present. The varnish is lightly coated and requires very little sanding to remove.

This flooring was removed by us a few months back from a school in North London and cost us more than the asking price to lift and transport it from London to Manchester, that was without taking in to consideration the cost of the block.
This lot is ideal if you have a commercial venture and wish to lay a large area from the same source. Or even if you wish to set up a reclaim flooring company as we have other large batches up for grabs. We are having a yard clear out due to the sheer volume of over stock about us at the moment.

 FOR SALE : SAPELE STRIP FLOORING FLOORBOARDS OVER 1500M2 IN STOCK The most beautiful reclaimed Sapele also known as Mahogany strip flooring. This would be a great alternative to Oak, as the colour is nice and rich and it is straight and cross cut, showing off the grain.

Originally fitted in the 1940's
Surface has a light coat of varnish as per images show. The white marks on the strip flooring is only dust, this wipes off.
Supplied in un-sanded condition, will require sanding and finishing once fitted. 1st image, shows sanded and a satin varnish. Image 2 and 3 is showing the original condition wiped over with a damp cloth.
Underside in fantastic condition, some undersides ''may'' be slightly damaged from removal.
T&G to sides/ends ''except where the ends have been trimmed to tidy up and square off on some lengths''. Some of the t&g will be damaged where it has been lifted. This doesn't make the slightest difference as nails will secure the flooring when fitting. Therefore, t&g is not needed as the floor is not floating. So all usable.

Built 1933-5.The building is a grade II* listed.
Designed by the late Sir Edwin Landseer Lutyens 1869 - 1944, A leading 20th Cent British architect who is known for imaginatively adapting traditional architectural styles to the requirements of his era.
A castle-like Art Deco building, surrounded moat-like by roads on all four sides. Built with the help of engineers Whinney, Son & Austen Hall between 1933 and 1935, it features carvings by the local sculptor John Ashton Floyd. The building is constructed of Portland stone around a steel frame (see images).
The layered style of the period is shown in the use of set back features and arches around the lower levels making this a truly classic Art Deco building.
The branch was re-branded as HSBC Bank after the takeover of Midland Bank by HSBC in the 1990s. This building as a bank closed its doors for the final time on 6 June 2008. Renovation works have now commenced. The flooring has been carefully taken out over 14 days (Dec 2010) This consists of solid Oak Parquet flooring. We are most privileged to have the opportunity of stocking this flooring from such an amazing building. Take a look on Google and view the most amazing images throught the building. The vaults are absolutely fabulous and in the past been used for reconstruction filming.
Part of this building is rumoured soon to be the home of Jamie Oliver's new restaurant and the original Oak parquet floors in this part of the building have been retained and will be restored.
There was one further floor that retained the flooring for restoration.
The majority of the parquet flooring was covered with carpet or boarding, especially the floors in the main banking hall with the blue and white art deco ceiling.
Details of the flooring:
Reclaimed solid English Oak parquet Original to the building 1935c. It is a guess- but id of thought that when it was taken over by HSBC it would have had some form of re-fit and the floors would have been covered over with carpet.

Condition is as per images; bitumen removed, tops pre sanded to remove original layer of varnish. T&G's untouched, however, we can remove the t&g if you require.

We have APPROX 300 m2 left in stock. This has just been removed from a building in Bolton.
Originally fitted in the 1940's
Surface has a light coat of varnish as per images show. It has the odd gym paint marking on some of it, this sands off as easy as the varnish does.
Underside: Some lengths will be damaged from removal, all however usable.
T&G to sides/ends ''except where the ends have been trimmed to tidy up and square off on some lengths''. Some of the t&g will be damaged where it has been lifted. This doesn't make the slightest difference as nails will secure the flooring when fitting. Therefore, t&g is not needed as the floor is not floating. So all usable.
Sized 3m to 4m long x 2&1/2'''' wide x 3/4'' depth (approximate)
Has been de-nailed.
This flooring requires secret nails to secure to your sub floor.
