 FOR SALE : WOODEN PORCH / LICH-GATE FROM EXETER SCHOOL
This is the wooden frame for a porch. I imagine that it could either be fixed over a door to the front of a building (with two posts supporting the front). Or it could be a freestanding structure with a brick or stone base and four posts, one at each corner. Whatever suited you. And of course you would need to tile the roof. We live in an old church and were going to use it as a sort of lich-gate entrance. But we are now moving on so have to sell it.
When we bought the porch we were told that it had been salvaged from the entrance to Exeter School. We bought it in the West Country so that may be true - don't know.
We took apart the porch to transport it so it is a lot of pieces and would need to be rebuilt. However, I imagine that you would want to strip, refurbish and repaint it anyway.
I can't stress enough that the pieces are very large and heavy so you would need at least 2 people to lift it and a large van to transport it. We used a box Luton but it was a real squeeze to get it inside and nearly killed us in the process! Collection would be fron near Folkestone in Kent.
I don't have any accurate measurements of the assembled size because it is now in pieces. But the two front sections (at diagonals in the photo) are over 7 ft long each). And David (who you can see standing in the photo) is 6ft tall so you can see that it is a large piece).
