FOR SALE : ORIGINAL RECLAIMED CAST IRON PANEL

Reclaimed from the Smmithfield Meat Market known as 'Smooth Field', one of the oldest working markets in London, founded in 1123.



We believe the cast iron section to be circa 1860 when the city architect Sir Horace Jones completed additional construction in 1868.



In 1958 there was a great fire damaging the market which may be reason for this panel coming into the reclamation market.



Considering in WW2 cast iron was melted down to help the war effort, it shows the quality of this piece of English history as it survived.
