A set of vintage Edwardian Arts & Crafts / Art Nouveau copper plated hardware from a fireside slippers box or coal cabinet. The large handle measures 7" wide by 3.75" high and has two strong integral fixing bolts and nuts extending a further 1.5". The strap hinges measure 8.1" x 2.1". All three pieces have a lacquered copper finish with selective antiquing. In great original condition with no faults. This item is easily postable. It can also be brought to forthcoming antiques fairs at Swinderby or Newark, or collected from us in Boston.

 FOR SALE : VINTAGE ARTS & CRAFTS OAK BED WITH CUT OUTS
Vintage solid oak Arts & Crafts bed with wonderful bud cut-outs on both the headboard and footboard. Imposing and architectural, the traditionally jointed construction features 1.75" x 1.5" pillars with 3.25" x 2.75" moulded cappings, curved crossbars 0.75" thick and vertical infill slats 0.5" thick, all with wonderful figured grain. The spear-like bud cut-outs are unusual in that the buds have a stepped inner shape that I have never seen elsewhere. The height of the top cappings on the headboard is 53.25", whilst the height of the top cappings on the footboard/endboard is 41". Both measure 42" in width as the bed was made for a 3'6" mattress. These are easily orderable today if not stocked by your local bedding shop. I have purchased two in this size locally for vintage beds of my own. The lower crossbars are at a height of 13.75" on the headboard and 12.75" on the footboard. There are no splits, loose joints or other problems. The bed would originally have had 'Vono' style ('sit-on') bed irons and brackets, the echoes of which can be seen on the lower legs, and probably an entirely metal sprung base. These are obtainable but most people screws or bolt antique headboards and footboards directly to their existing modern wooden slatted bed bases or divan bases - there is actually no use for the irons as well. This item can be collected from us in Boston or brought to a forthcoming antiques fair at Swinderby or Newark. It can also be shipped worldwide by FedEx (or international shippers of your choice), or carriers/hauliers within the UK.
