 FOR SALE : ANTIQUE PINE DOOR/WINDOW UNIT-FULL OF RUSTIC CHARM
I believe this is the original external scullery door of our 1893 house. I think it would be an ideal internal kitchen door in any period setting. It is choc full of rustic charm and would lend character to any room, although I would no longer advise using it as an external door unless you really do have a cold scullery as it would be quite draughty. It is in excellent condition given its age, having been "distressed" for the last 115 years. The detailed acid etched glass in the window (shown in photo) looks original and it's amazing it's survived intact this long.
It comprises a full size door with a top opening part that opens in (rather like a stable door, but it is not exactly like a stable door as it opens within a frame, so the frame and the bottom half of the door remains shut whilst it is open). This could be used to keep toddlers out of a room whilst keeping an eye on them, but we don't use it at all as the door functions perfectly well as a normal door when the top part is closed since the frame holds it all together. It does give a lot of character though.
To one side there is an attached window which I suppose could be separated but they are built within the same frame. The window still has original cast iron hook catch to close it and also has a couple of iron bars inset into the frame for security. The glass has a border detail and is acid etched (see photo).
Comes with ironmongery shown except brass hook and door handles.
