 FOR SALE : GODWIN ENCAUSTIC/GEOMETRIC TILED FLOOR
geometric tiled floor with encaustic panel insets and border
this is a beautifull example of a salvaged geometric tiled floor circa 1850's by w e godwin, hereford , lugwardine.
all the tiles have the makers mark on reverse.
the tiles are all in excellent condition with very little damage, just the odd chip and mark here and there. the tiles have been washed with water and the backs sides and edges cleaned and are free of cement and grout and are ready to fix.
the layout pictured shows the design dry layed in the studio. one square meter incorperates 9 encaustic 4 x 4 inch(buff on black) insets. the border incorperates a 6x6 inch buff on brown encaustic. there is only one corner tile for the border design showing a rose motif. this could be replaced with a replacement resulting in 4 or more matching motifs. these are available as reproductions through craven dunnill jackfield, or maw and co.

the dimensions of the floor are as follows:-
approxamately 10 sq m available
encaustic 4x4 inch buff on black
encaustic 6 x 6 inch buff on brown
1 x corner motif tile.
approx 13.5 liear meters of border tiles.
there are two options with the design of the pattern, either blue or white triangles can be used, as can be seen in the pictures.
