FOR SALE : MINTON TILE COLLECTION
minton & co encaustic floor tiles

circa 1850
this is a rare opportunity to purchase a fine collection of minton encaustic floor tiles.
the tiles are in excellent condition with some grout still attatched to the sides. very few have cement on the backs.
this is a fine collection with several design combinations three of which i have composed based on the quantities available. i can send these if you require them.
the quantities are as follows:-
the number preceeding the quantity corresponds to the numbers on the image in the gallery.
1 - quantity 40, encaustic: blue, buff, white, brown, red 6 x 6 inch square 1 inch thick.
2 - quantity 40, encaustic: blue, buff, white, brown, red 6 x 6 inch square 1 inch thick.
3 - rear of tiles, makers mark: minton & co stoke on trent.
4 - quantity 20, encaustic: buff on brown 3x3 inch.
5 - quantity 370, encaustic: buff, red, white, blue - (main body of tiles) + 40 with chips, + 170 badly damaged, 580 in total
6 - quantity 30, encaustic: red, buff, brown, blue, 6 x 6 inch, 1 inch thick.
7 - quantity 100 border tiles + some damaged, encaustic: buff on brown 6 x 3 inch.
8 - quantity 50 border tiles + some damaged, encaustic: buff on brown 6 x 3 inch.
9 - quantity 4 sets of panels, total 16 tiles, encaustic: blue, buff, white, brown, red 5¼ x 5¼ inch square 1 inch thick.
18 square meters is the total area covered by all the tiles
876 tiles in total plus additional tiles that are damaged.
there are enough of the no.5 tile alone to cover approx 8.5 sq meters in order to create a beautiful classic and traditional floor.
the other tiles are ideal to create insets within the design.
if the floor is purchased all tiles will be cleaned and prepared ready for fixing!
we will remove grout and mortar and wash the tiles with water.
