FOR SALE : WOODEN FOOTWEAR LASTS IN LONDON, UK Wooden footwear lasts with plastic size markings, over 200 pairs, stored in SW London near M3 & M4 motorways. The lasts are marked Gradwell, Leicester, England 4333A MOD F2.
£2.50 per last £5 a pair includes VAT and London delivery over 50 lasts.
When sorted, I hope to sell as many as possible in sets medium or wide, sizes 5,6,7,8,9,10,11,12. One wine bottle box holds two sets of lasts so a full range in one width would be 4 boxes @ 15kg costing £3.49 to deliver to a collectplus.co.uk counter near you.
A couple of people have got in touch about using some lasts for displays. I hope to get a few sets sold to people who make things first.
Payment in cash on collection is fine, by paypal to shop@veganline.com, or by credit card over the phone to John on 0208 286 9947 - payments show as "veganline gb" on your statement. Best is BACS: I can give details.
The MOD wooden footwear lasts were modified for a fire rescue boot which was often used with a steel toe cap - part of the process involved adding some plastic padding to to the top of the toe area. If you look closely at the photo you'll see a white bit on top of the toe area. That's it. I guess it can be sanded off.
The lasts have a big heel-to-top-front dimension to allow them to be used for slip-on boots without elastic, like a wellington. This could easily be reduced with a bit of DIY.
The lasts have plastic tabs in yellow, white, red, blue, purple and brown for the different lengths and are stamped in widths M and L. They lack the battered look of heavily used lasts - they're not much used - but have a more curved shape. They're dismanted by removing a scoop of wood, so there is no V-shaped dip in the top.
The boot lasts are usable for footwear manufacturing, college students' practice pattern cutting, or as pub curios.
I'll deliver orders over 50 lasts free to London. Otherwise they are about 900g each (1800g a pair) and can be delivered quite cheaply by couriers such as http://www.collectplus.co.uk which will send 15kg to a counter near you for £4 on top of the price. Parcelmonkey, Parcel2go and Interparcel are other online brokers for the cheapest courier and I can wrap an order ready for collection. I've never sent a pallet but think Shipley.com might allow cheap bids for loads over 30kg that aren't urgent.
