
FOR SALE : CARVED GOTHIC STONE ARCADE AND MARBLE ALTAR RAIL

Provenance: Removed from the Oratory of St Philip Neri in Kensington, described by Pevsner as London's most thoroughgoing nineteenth century import of the Italian style.
More info added (15 aug 06): Removed from St. Philips Church, Earls Court, London, designed by Johnson 1863. Carved arcading with marble columns, by Farmer. Originally in the sanctuary, it consists of limestone canopies, capitals and bases, incorporating angelic figures, with verde and rouge breche columns. Derbyshire alabaster panelling infilling the arches. 7 arches plus 3 arches on each return. In addition, the original altar rail comprising pierced trefoils in alabaster with a verde marble rail and base. (Minor losses, notably one pinnacle).
