FOR SALE : CAST IRON SQUARE-EDGED BATH AND SHANKS BASIN
Cast iron bath, approx dimensions 167cm (65.75') L x 70cm (22.5') W x 51cm (20.5') H.

Square edged cast iron bath. Stands on the usual metal feet-type standing brackets (these have been loosened in the photo to get the bath through th doorway, so the bath is not shown standing properly on the brackets). The date stamped on the underside of the bath says 1956. The enamel is not perfect, there is a discoloured patch by the waste, but it should be possible to recoat that bit with a DIY kit or a more professional spray job. Generally the bath could do with a clean up to get rid of old silicone, paint and plaster especially on the side that was by the wall. There are a couple of plaster splashes from recent refurbishment but they should clean off.

The bath is very high quality, solid and retains heat very well. It has lots of life left and would look pretty good with a bit of TLC. I loved this bath and am only parting with it due to a recent refurbishment project. It comes with its taps but they would be best replaced. Available immediately for collection from London (W9).

Please note it is very heavy and you will need at least two men to remove as it needs to come down some stairs.

Also available together or separately is an old armitage shanks basin which is in excellent used condition, with its taps. Not sure of the date but probably about the same vintage as the bath.
