Fawley Estate, home to Sir William and Lady McAlpine is open for special events and weddings only. Steam train and museum. There is a private animal sanctuary but deer and other more unusual rescue animals can be spotted in their fields and you can book feeding trips.
Sir William and Lady McAlpine's private estate is less than one hour west of London.
A special event in its third year held at this amazing venue is SALVO 2017, the largest annual architectural salvage and antiques fair, held annually in June.
The Salvo Fair is in the deer park and open to the public on Saturday 24th and Sunday 25th June 2017. The Trade day will be held on Friday 23rd June 2017 to which dealers, decorators, construction professionals, developers, builders, landscapers and journalists will be welcome.
There are normally around 90 exhibitors, many of whom are Salvo Code supporters.

Lady McAlpine personally organises the catering which usually includes delicious teas and homemade cakes, vintage ice-cream van, lamb burgers, fish and chips, salads and a bar. During the Salvo Fair the private railway museum and the two mile Fawley steam train ride will be open. Train rides run by volunteers for £5 will be available on Saturday and Sunday. Times yet to tbc
The Salvo Fair zones include architectural salvage and reclaimed building materials including bricks, tiles, flooring, antique radiators, doors and door furniture, garden and decorative antiques, furniture, mirrors, lighting, recraft, retro, steampunk, industrial, vintage and mid-century modern, vintage fabric, reclaimed upcycling, craftspeople and eco green building.
Each year there is a different theme and this year the theme is off-grid living - antiques, reclamation and salvage, green living and the carbon benefits of reuse. The green theme will include the opportunity to book special Saturday and Sunday weekend festival tickets: entry on both days with one meal from sustainable chef, Douglas McMaster. He is owner of Silo, Brighton, the UK's first zero-waste restaurant. OFM award for best ethical restaurant in 2016. Pre book only, via Eventbrite, at salvofair(dot)com from April 2017.
