 FOR SALE : 6 PAIRS OF ANTIQUE OCTAGONAL GLASS DOOR KNOBS Six pairs of Victorian octagonal glass door knobs, circa 1900s.
They have a wonderful mercury mirrored patterned centers, which gives them a lovely sparkle.
They are very chunky and tactile with polished flat faces.
These are best suited to mortise locks, but could be used on rim locks, depending on personal preference.
The brass shanks have a lovely patina, but should polish up beautifully if that's the look you prefer. One pair have chrome plated shanks and another nickel, these are ideal for your bathroom, kitchen or ensuites.
They come complete with the original grub screws and connecting bar.
Each measures 5.5cm (2.25") across and they will project 6cm (2.25") from the door.
Condition: Very good, but there are a few tiny flea bites and light surface scratches on a few, but nothing that will be noticeable once they're fitted. I have adjusted the price accordingly. All the mercury centers are lovely and bright.
Not made in in UK.

It comes complete with working key and hand crafted replacement keep, made from reclaimed iron and wood giving it that top quality original look.
The lock has been professionally restored to a very high standard and is in full working order. It's been finished in gun metal grey and lacquered.
The lock measures 25cm (9.75") wide, 15cm (6") high and 4cm (1.5") thick.
The keep measures 4cm (1.5") wide, 14.5cm (5.75") high and 4cm (1.5") thick.
The original key measures 1cm thick and 13.5cm (5.25") long.
The center of the key hole is 12cm (4.75") from the edge of the lock.
An impressive piece weighing just under 2kg.

 FOR SALE : STUNNING 1831 FOSTER & OKELY REGENCY GOTHICK FIREPLACE A magnificent English Painswick stone late Regency Gothick chimneypiece designed by Foster & Okely in 1831 for The Priory, Abbots Leigh, Bristol.
The present chimneypiece was designed for the drawing room. The crocketted and crenellated tower jambs rise above the shelf, each carved with a niche surmounted by an elaborately carved vaulted canopy. The spandrels either side of the moulded arched opening are finely carved and deeply undercut with oak leaves and a Fleur de Lys to the left and a stylised Tudor Rose to the right.
For further information on the Bristol architects Foster & Okely see Howard Colvin 'A Biographical Dictionary of British Architects 1600 -1840, 1995 pp. 372-73.

 FOR SALE : FAUX BOIS GARDEN BENCH Early 20th Century Faux Bois Garden Bench. This is a classically sculpted concrete piece, a romanticised garden objets d'art bench with gnarled branches, in a curved form.
Faux Bois (fake wood), often French, was a big trend in the 1800's, and again from about 1890 to 1910, its heyday, ending in 1930. With a real renewal in interest over recent years it's becoming very collectable, with modern reproductions now coming onto the market.
