 FOR SALE : ANTIQUE CAST IRON SASHES IN AN OAK FRAME
This is a rare opportunity to acquire a pair of genuinely old Victorian cast iron cottage sashes installed in a virtually new, solid oak frame.
The frame was only made about 18 months ago - a picture of the window as originally installed can be sent on request.
We also have 10 antique cast iron sashes without any frames being sold in a separate advert. The sashes are exactly the same style as the complete frame offered above.
From pictures sent to the Society for the Protection of Ancient Buildings, they consider the sashes were made in the second half of the 19th century making them between 100 and 150 years old.
The condition of the frame and sashes is extremely good. There is a need for some re-staining on the top of the front where the lead tray covered the wood and on the inside where security bars were fitted.
The overall dimensions of the window are :-
88 cms wide
81.5 cms high
10 cms deep, with a further 2.5 cms cill
The dimensions of the sashes are as follows :-
37.5 cms wide
70.5 cms high
1.7 cms thick
The opening sash is fitted with a very effective draught excluder.

This is a rare opportunity to acquire a quantity of 10 Victorian cast iron matching cottage sashes.
We also have for sale, as a separate advert, a complete two sash window in an oak frame only made about 18 months ago. The sashes are exactly the same style as the 10 offered above.
From pictures sent to the Society for the Protection of Ancient Buildings, they consider the sashes were made in the second half of the 19th century, making them between 100 and 150 years old.
The condition of the sashes varies from good - just needing clean up and repaint - to others which will require a reasonable amount of renovation.
In summary :- 6 sashes are in good condition - 1 broken pane.
2 have rust pitting - 4 panes broken.
2 with single crack in frames - 3 panes cracked.
