 FOR SALE : PAIR OF ANTIQUE FRENCH WALNUT BEDS + 2 MATTRESSES We bought this pair of Walnut beds 3 years ago, from a pricey local French antique shop.
The shop owners were selling these beds for £450 each, but we bought a pair for £800. However, these could be sold separately...
Both beds are photographed in separate bedrooms (green room, and pale pink room), as we put our children in their own bedroom.
Our girls are under 8 and light, so these mattresses are practically new.
These beds are easy to maneuver, as they have casters that move sideways. One side of these beds is very decorative, the other is plain (see both photos), and could be used against the wall.
These beds had no modern slats, so we had slated bases manufactured for both. However, it does still the original walnut planks, that in the olden days, supported a metal mesh-base.
The outside dimensions of the beds are: 210 cm (82") long by 150 cm (59") wide.
The mattress details:
The dimensions of the mattresses are: 180 cm (70") long by 115 cm (45") wide.
Then we needed to have mattresses made, but because of their dimensions, we waited 8 weeks for them.
Because these beds for our children we ordered specially manufactured mattresses that cost us £350 for each, and I can let the buyer have the receipt from 2006.
These "DELUXE" mattresses contain wool and the manufacturer is SLEEPEEZE.
Mattress specifications are:
* over 1400 pocketed springs in a 150 cm King-size bed
* Firmer tension only
* 3 rows of side-stitching
* Belgian damask panel with complementary border
* Tufted mattress with wool and silk fillings
* No need to turn the mattress
* 20 cm in height (specially made to accommodate the depth of these beds).
We used protective waterproof mattress covers from the very first day they were used. The buyer will receive 2 covers (white) in this sale.
