 FOR SALE : BRONZE BULLION ROOM DOORS They are the former bullion room doors from a Bank in Lombard Street.
The Doors are Bronze.
The doors were commissioned from - and designed and cast by - Sir Charles Wheeler in the 1950's.
Sir Charles Wheeler provided the figures on the front and the dome of the Bank of England, the western fountain figures in Trafalgar Square, earth and water figures at the MOD, the Springbok on South Africa House and St George and the Dragon in Lombard Street itself.
The doors are unique. There are no others in existence.
They are in magnificent condition and enjoy a rich Patina after almost 50 years.
The detail on the two doors is superb.
The doors are cast as a matching pair to face one another.
Phoebus the Sun God faces Ursa Major.
The doors weigh approximately two tons each.
Each door is 13ft high and 10ft wide.
Sir Charles Wheeler(1892-1974), Sculptor and President of the Royal Academy 1956-1964.

 FOR SALE : ENORMOUS CAST IRON GATE POSTS I purchased thes cast iron gates thinking they were a lot smaller than they were ... My mistake I ended up having to get a hiab to collect them as they are too heavy to put in the back of a van and certainly too heavy to pick up . The person I bought them from had them 30 years and said they had come from a large estate . I believe them to be over 100 years old and when they are painted up they will be spectacular . I have now realised my more modest drive will not be grand enough for these and very very reluctantly I am selling them ...
