STOLEN :
WELLINGTONS WHEEL

This historic bronze gun carriage wheel was stolen from the premises of KDG
Instruments at Crawley during the weekend 15th/16th January 2000.

The wheel is 4 feet in diameter and is extremely ornate, with a leopard's head at the centre and eight dolphins around the inner rim.

The wheel was cast in 1852 by Tylors one of our group of Companies. Seven wheels were cast in total and six were used on the Duke of Wellington's funeral gun carriage. This gun carriage was for many years housed in the crypt of St. Paul's Cathedral and was also used at the funeral of Sir Winston Churchill. The seventh wheel has been exhibited at the Tylors and KDG Instruments factories since 1852.
