FOR SALE : VICTORIAN WROUGHT IRON GATES
Highly detailed blacksmith made wrought iron gates. Measurements- 4'3"x5'6" high(approx),would need 8' 6" opening. These gates have a chequered and interesting past. We estimate them from around 1850's. Hidden from the government to save them from being melted down during WWII the owner never re-mounted them because he thought neighbours would victimise him, through not handing them in for the war effort. Sold on with the home to the next owner who decided to widen the entrance, they were then stored at his engineering factory until 2004 when we purchased them. Since we purchased them, they have undergone a full restoration by a master blacksmith to there present condition. They have been shot blasted, zinc coated and spray painted with at least two coats of black paint. New pivot blocks and hinge brackets have been made. Pictures are available of the full restoration process to the buyer.
